Installatie ‘Er zal geen verdriet meer zijn.’ 2020
Installation: ‘There will be no more sorrow’, 2020
Paintings and drawings, textiles and paper clay
220×220 cm, 47 circles.
These 47 “Circles” form inner portraits. They arise from a desire to calm the soul.
I started this series from a recovery of overstrain in 2012. There were parallels between the organic circle shape that I was attracted to and my personal development, in particular my need for security. From there I continued to work. For me, drawing, experimenting, painting is therapeutic. I strive to think as little as possible about what I’m doing, but to work intuitively.
I have now made more than 500 circles in many sizes. I use various techniques and materials. Usually I work on paper with acrylic, graphite powder and pencil. Each individual circle is titled after the date it was made.
Themes like: Desire for security, comfort and wholeness, giving and receiving space are very important to me. Emotion is an essential component in the works, the desire for softness, kindness and touch is expressed in the handwriting, the skin and form.
The universal desire to be loved is in line with the biblical future where we will always be with God. He will then dry our tears. We find our real home in God.
